The Marin County Civic Center, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, is located in San Rafael, California, the county seat of Marin County, California, United States. Groundbreaking for the Civic Center Administration Building took place in 1960, after Wright's death and under the watch of Wright's protégé, Aaron Green ; it was completed in 1962.
The Marin County Free Library was established in 1926 by the county's Board of Supervisors. In 1927, Muriel Wright opened its first branch in the basement of what was at the time the County Courthouse in San Rafael. BART proposed a train station near the current location as part of the Marin Line in a report sent to the approving counties in 1961. [4] Marin's exit from the Bay Area Rapid Transit District halted these plans. The current station opened to preview service on June 29, 2017; full commuter service commenced on August 25, 2017. The Mission Branch Library building was completed in October 1955. The library is located at City Plaza Park, at the corner of Lexington and Main Streets. In 1999, the Mission Branch Library was closed for renovation and re-opened on November 16, 2000. It was remodeled again from December 2017 to September 2018. [2]
