Florida State Hospital (FSH) is a hospital and psychiatric hospital in Chattahoochee, Florida. Established in 1876, it was Florida's only state mental institution until 1947. It currently has a capacity of 1,042 patients. The hospital's current Administration Building is on the National Register of Historic Places. [1]

Florida State University (FSU or Florida State) is a public research university in Tallahassee, Florida, United States. It is a senior member of the State University System of Florida and a preeminent university in the state. [15] Chartered in 1851, it is located on Florida's oldest continuous site of higher education. [16] [2]
City officials of Tallahassee took steps to establish a school for boys as early as 1827 with the establishment of the Leon Academy. [13] Leon Academy was advertised in the Pensacola Gazette of March 9, 1827 as being under the supervision of Presbyterian Rev. Henry M. White, A.M. [14] By early 1831 the Leon Academy was under the control of the Tallahassee City Council.
Facilities at Florida State include 18 residence halls on campus with 6,712 residents. Undergraduates live in a majority of the residence halls. [1] In 2009, the university celebrated the completion of a 15-year project that renovated the seven historic residence halls (built before 1950).
