I am having this exact same problem. It was working a few days ago and now shows that I have "no devices found" for audio output and input. Method 1 did nothing because it says I have no devices. Method 2 didn't work because "Sound, video and game controllers" isn't even LISTED. Method 3 I can not understand.
Go to Settings > Devices > Autoplay to look for the device and change the default behavior in it's Dropdown Menu. Right click Volume icon in System Tray at right end of task bar, Open Sounds Settings, in dropdown menus at top make sure Headphones are selected and Connected for both Playback and Recording Default Devices.
The device is detected by device manager and it shows up under control panel, but under sound settings>input>device properties the sound test shows 0%. I have tested this with a different set of headphones and have the same issue. These are all of the things I have tried: Sound settings>input>troubleshoot does not detect an issue
4. Click on "Show hidden devices" 5. Click on "Audio, video, games controller" 6. Right click on your audio device 5. Click on "Uninstall device" 6. Click on "Detects Hardware change" (monitor icon) Let me know if that solves your problem.
This has happened before after updates and I'd usually go into Audition's Audio Hardware Setup settings and reassign the soundcard, but this time there is nothing to reassign (no input device found). I've updated the RealTek drivers via Device Manager plus uninstalled and reinstalled Audition, but still no luck.
I suspect that this is due to the missing drivers for Sound, video and game controllers in the Device Manager. I couldn't even find Sound, video and game controllers until I pressed "Show hidden devices". When I click on Realtek(R) Audio Properties, it said "Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer.
After latest windows 10 update no audio devices are listed/ Looking in device manager - the audio devices all say working OK. But on bar at bottem of screen get speaker with red cross -- Playing audio - Audio trouble shouter cannot find any problems .. Sound settings say - No output or Input devices found.
After you do all the above (and restarted of course), go to your device manager, scroll down to System Devices, expand, and scroll to Intel Smart Technology...Audio Controller. You might see an error/exclamation point. Right-click it and update it. Restart. And guess what....that actually worked.
3. After factory resetting twice, things got kinda messy. My computer still had the red x after the factory reset, and when I went into device manager again, I saw that my old audio driver titled "Audio input/outputs" didn't exist anymore.
4) Right click Volume icon in System Tray, choose Sound Settings, from the Output and Input devices dropdown menus, choose then one(s) affected to see if that helps. If not use the Troubleshoot button nearby. 5) Run the Playing Sound troubleshooter at Start button > Settings>Update & Security>Troubleshoot.
