One issue each year was dedicated to an emerging metropolis for contemporary art. Parachute was concerned primarily with the visual arts and museology.
The first issue featured works by Ellsworth Kelly, Cyprien Gaillard, Sarah Morris and Adrián Villar Rojas, and the architecture of Oscar Niemeyer.
