The building was designed by the Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas together with project architect Fuminori Hoshino [3] of the architectural firm OMA (Office for Metropolitan Architecture). Wim van Krimpen was its first director. The Kunsthal has no permanent collection, but organises a wide range of temporary exhibits.
