Hunters is an American conspiracy drama television series created by David Weil. It premiered on February 21, 2020, on Amazon Prime Video . [ 1 ] [ 2 ] In August 2020, the series was renewed for a second and final season which premiered on January 13, 2023.
The first season of 10 episodes debuted worldwide on Netflix on October 13, 2017. [5] [6] The second season was released by Netflix on August 16, 2019. [7] In January 2020, Netflix announced that the potential for a third season was on indefinite hold as Fincher wanted to pursue other projects, but may "revisit [the series] in the future". [8]
It was also nominated for four Daytime Emmy Awards, including Best Children's Animated Series, and won the Emmy for Outstanding Writing in an Animated Program. On January 30, 2017, Trollhunters writers Kevin and Dan Hageman stated that the series is the most successful Netflix original show to date that is targeted at a younger audience. [29]
The documentary is separated into three episodes. It is directed by Rob Miller, an employee of Netflix. The three episodes are made up of interviews of the main roles in the site except Hunter Moore. Hunter originally was willing to be featured and interviewed for the documentary but later declined for unknown reasons.

Guillermo del Toro initially envisioned the idea of Trollhunters as a live-action television series. However, this was deemed impractical due to budgetary concerns of using computer generated monsters as main cast members in a live-action production, and as a result he instead turned the idea into a book he co-wrote alongside Daniel Kraus and published by Disney-Hyperion.
