Winthorpe is a small coastal village in the civil parish of Skegness, in the East Lindsey district of Lincolnshire, England. It is situated approximately 2 miles (3.2 km) north from Skegness. Winthorpe was both an ancient parish, and a civil parish, until 1 April 1926 when it was abolished.
The parishes of Skegness and Winthorpe were united in 1978; [269] its legal name is Skegness with Winthorpe. [271] The parish forms part of the Skegness Group, which includes the parishes of Ingoldmells and Addlethorpe. The Derbyshire Miners' Holiday Camp at Skegness, on the east coast of England, was opened in May 1939, to provide an annual holiday for Derbyshire coal miners and their families. Skegness was an Urban District in Parts of Lindsey, Lincolnshire, England from 1894 to 1974. [ 1 ] [ 2 ] It was created under the Local Government Act 1894 . It was enlarged in 1926 when the Winthorpe civil parish was transferred to the district.
It is situated approximately 2 miles (3.2 km) north from Skegness, and directly west of Winthorpe. [1] The area was developed in 1925, with the development of the Seathorne Estate. [2] By 1931, the town's population had reached 9,122. [3]
