The Beilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry is a peer-reviewed diamond open-access scientific journal established in 2005. The journal is published and completely funded by the Beilstein Institute for the Advancement of Chemical Sciences, a German non-profit foundation.
The foundation was involved in producing the comprehensive Crossfire Beilstein database, first introduced in 1994. [1] In 2005, the institute initiated the diamond open access Beilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry and in 2010, the Beilstein Journal of Nanotechnology.

The first edition of this work, published in 1881, covered 1,500 compounds in 2,200 pages.
