The University Interscholastic League Academic Contests, also known as UIL Academics, is a series of academic contests offered by the University Interscholastic League in the state of Texas. At the High School level, 30 contests are offered. At the Middle and Elementary School levels, 20 contests are offered.
Academic events at the high school level are held in the spring. Schools compete within the same conference as in athletics and marching band. There is no division of competition by grade level in high school academic events; all students in grades 9–12 that compete in a particular event compete against each other.
Number Sense is one of several academic events sanctioned by the University Interscholastic League. It is also a competition held by the Texas Math and Science Coaches Association, using the same rules as the UIL. It is one of the UIL's oldest academic competitions: the first state title was awarded in 1943.
