Newport Township is a township in Barton County, Missouri, USA. As of the 2000 census , its population was 354. The township takes its name from Newport, Missouri .
Newport was platted in 1874. [1] A variant name was Horse Creek. [2] A post office called Horse Creek was established in 1858, the name was changed to Newport in 1878, and the post office closed in 1915. [3]
