Cabuyao is 45 kilometers (28 mi) away from Santa Cruz, the provincial capital, and 8 kilometers (5.0 mi) from the city center of Calamba, the chartered city and regional center of Calabarzon region. The only lake found in Cabuyao is Laguna de Bay. Barangays situated along the lake are Bigaa, Butong, Marinig, Gulod, Baclaran and Mamatid.
Mamatid opened on January 24, 1909 and was also the starting point of the now-defunct Canlubang Line, which connects it to the former Canlubang Sugar Mill in Canlubang, Calamba, Laguna. Today, it connects to the Nuvali urban township of Ayala Land. The present station building was completed in 2014.
