It later moved to a new building, Charles Bender High School in 1929, and eventually to its current location on Wilson Road, as Humble High School, in 1965. The first high school graduates in Humble graduated from this school in 1911. The first school building, Humble High School, opened in 1918 on Higgins Avenue. [2] In 1929, it was relocated to a new building, next door, as Charles Bender High School. It became Humble High School again and moved to its present location at 1700 Wilson Road, in 1965.

AHS is a part of Humble Independent School District and serves the eastern part of the district and small portions of the city of Houston. AHS opened in August 2006, [2] becoming the district's third traditional high school, and the first opened since 1979. Since its opening, it has been the district's largest high school in terms of enrollment.
