East Lansing is located on land that was an important junction of two major Native American groups: the Potawatomi and the Fox. [5] By 1850, the Lansing and Howell Plank Road Company was established to connect a toll road to the Detroit and Howell Plank Road, improving travel between Detroit and Lansing, which cut right through what is now East Lansing.
M-21 passes east–west through Fowler, St. Johns, Shepardsville and Ovid. M-21 provides a link to Grand Rapids, approximately 66 miles (106 km) to the west, and Flint, about 45 miles (72 km) to the east. M-100 has a short segment in southwestern Clinton County. From a beginning at I-69 in Eaton County, it terminates at I-96 north of Grand Ledge.

Bath Charter Township is a charter township of Clinton County in the state of Michigan in the U.S.. As of the 2020 census, the township population was 13,292, [3] an increase from 11,598 at the 2010 census. It is situated directly north of the city of East Lansing.
