The Swedish speedway league was founded in 1948 and was inspired by British speedway including adopting British teams nicknames in Swedish versions. As popularity of the sport grew many new clubs were founded all around Sweden and during the 1950s and over 30 different clubs have competed in at least one season in the league system. [3]
Despite the success experienced in 2020, the club withdrew from the league for the 2023 season due to financial problems. [1] In 2023, they did however run a team in the third tier of Swedish speedway (known as Division 1) and won the competition that season. For the 2024 Swedish speedway season, the team would return to the Allsvenskan. [15]
Elitserien (literally, "The Elite Series") (Swedish: Elitserien i speedway) is the highest league in the league system of speedway in Sweden and currently comprises the top eight Swedish speedway teams. [1] The first season began in 1982. Before that Allsvenskan was the highest division. [2]
