SR 161 continues northwest out of the city limits through a rural area. It cuts across the northeast corner of Woodland only passing a few houses through the town. It enters the town of New Sweden but bypasses the town center heading diagonally through the town. Through the remainder of New Sweden, the road passes through forested areas.
The Jacobson House is set on the west side of New Sweden Road, near the top of what is now called Jacobson Hill. The 3-acre (1.2 ha) property includes, in addition to the house, a 1936 gambrel-roofed barn (located southwest of the house), and an heirloom orchard that includes twelve apple trees planted by Pehr Jacobson.
