Russell Middle School is located in Lawrenceville, Virginia serving grades 6–8. The current principal is Dr. Virginia G. Berry. The school mascot is the Lions. The 2006-2007 school was the first school year that Russell Middle served grades 6-8 when it used to serve grades 7–9.
Lee County Public Schools is a school division in Virginia that serves students in Lee County, Virginia. The concept of the Governor's School actually started as a three-year grant funded program in Stafford County, Virginia, from 1970 - 1972. One hundred Stafford public high school students were selected as "day students" and 100 public high school students from across the state were invited to be "on campus" students and were housed at the then Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, Virginia.
FCPS is currently the largest school system in Virginia and the tenth-largest in the United States. It also boasts an average on-time graduation rate of 91.5% and an average SAT score of 1213.
