The Statistics Online Computational Resource (SOCR) [1] is an online multi-institutional research and education organization. SOCR designs, validates and broadly shares a suite of online tools for statistical computing, and interactive materials for hands-on learning and teaching concepts in data science, statistical analysis and probability theory.
R is a programming language for statistical computing and data visualization. It has been adopted in the fields of data mining, bioinformatics and data analysis. [9] The core R language is augmented by a large number of extension packages, containing reusable code, documentation, and sample data. R software is open-source and free software.
In September 2002, the MIT OpenCourseWare proof-of-concept pilot site opened to the public, offering 32 courses. In September 2003, MIT OpenCourseWare published its 500th course, including some courses with complete streaming video lectures. By September 2004, 900 MIT courses were available online.

There were two reviews in journals (but not peer reviewed), one by Zhu and Kuljaca [26] and another article by Grant that included mainly a brief review of R. [27] Zhu and Kuljaca outlined some useful characteristics of software, such as ease of use, having a number of statistical procedures and ability to develop new procedures.
Roger D. Peng is an author and professor of Statistics and Data Science at the University of Texas at Austin. [1] [2] Peng originally received a Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics from Yale University in 1999, before going on to study at the University of California, Los Angeles, where he completed a Master of Science in Statistics in 2001 and a PhD in Statistics in 2003.

There is a Log Code tab, which replicates the R code for any activity undertaken in the GUI, which can be copied and pasted.

The time and effort required from participants may exceed what students are willing to commit to a free online course. Once the course is released, content will be reshaped and reinterpreted by the massive student body, making the course trajectory difficult for instructors to control. Participants must self-regulate and set their own goals.
