With the release of the first successful model in 1974, the Monitor 7, Polk Audio was gaining recognition in audiophile circles. Polk Audio used a two-way configuration on almost all its speakers, such as the popular Monitor 10 and Monitor 12, typically with 6.5-inch mid/bass drivers with rubber surrounds and passive radiators.
In 2004, the firm bought speaker company Definitive Technology; [3] in 2006, it bought Polk Audio. [4] In 2008, the companies adapted a holding company strategy, and their parent became DEI Holdings, Inc. [5] In 2011, the company was bought by private equity firm Charlesbank Capital Partners. [6]
In April 2013, the company combined Polk, Definitive Technology and the Boom Movement brands into a new division called Sound United. [ 7 ] In April 2015, the company released its W7 speaker with support for the Play-Fi wireless protocol for multi-room audio, produced by audio company DTS, Inc. , now owned by holding company Xperi . [ 1 ]
The company also produced a tilted speaker stand, the "Rectilinear Dispersion Base", intended to be used with the Model 5 speaker. [25] Although the Rectilinear speakers were distributed through a nationwide network of up to 400 dealers, most of their sales was generated on the East Coast. [26]
To Kill a Mockingbird is a 2018 play based on the 1960 novel of the same name by Harper Lee, adapted for the stage by Aaron Sorkin. It opened on Broadway at the Shubert Theatre on December 13, 2018. The play opened in London's West End at the Gielgud Theatre in March 2022.
