John Addison's score for Sleuth won this new vote, and thus replaced Rota's score on the official list of nominees. The music score was by John Addison and the cinematography by David Watkin. In 2002, Osborne's unproduced original script was reworked into a radio play for BBC Radio 4. The original airing featured Charles Dance as Cardigan, Donald Sinden as Lucan, Joseph Fiennes as Nolan, Alec McCowen as Raglan and Lynne Miller as Fanny Duberly. [5]
Only six composers—John Williams (in 1978; his double citation in 1975 counted as one nomination), Vangelis (in 1982), Maurice Jarre (in 1985), Hans Zimmer (in 2017), and the composing duo Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross (in 2020)—have received two nominations in the same year.
Until 2001, the award was presented to the composer of the music alone. [5] From 2001 to 2007, the music producer(s) and sound engineer/mixer(s) shared the award. [5] In 2007, the award reverted to a composer-only award. [5] John Williams holds the record for most wins and nominations for the award, with eleven wins out of thirty-four nominations.
