Heidelberg University is a private university in Tiffin, Ohio, United States. Founded in 1850, it was known as Heidelberg College until 1889 and from 1926 to 2009. It is affiliated with the United Church of Christ and enrolled 1,000 students in 2023.
In 2022, Tiffin City Council elected the city's first female mayor, Dawn Iannantuono, a Democrat, following the resignation of former Mayor Aaron Montz, a Republican. Tiffin University began as a Commercial College, affiliated for 30 years with Heidelberg College, as a financially independent and separate division. It taught the business courses typically found in the popular commercial colleges of the day. After breaking with Heidelberg College in 1917, the institution relocated to downtown Tiffin.

Paul Heusser Hoernemann (May 18, 1916 – February 28, 1965) was an American football and basketball coach. He served as head football coach at Heidelberg College—now known as Heidelberg University— in Tiffin, Ohio from 1946 to 1959, compiling a record of 102–18–4 and winning five Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) titles.
The building is named for alumni Allan G. Aigler, Class of 1902, who was a trustee of the university from 1926–1960. [6] [7] The Aigler Alumni Building was purchased by Heidelberg University from the Tiffin City Board of Education in 1961, and was outfitted for use as a classroom, office, and laboratory building.
