Ervin, Jr. (1905–2004), born in Carrabelle, was the Florida Attorney General from 1949 to 1964, and he served as chief justice of the Florida Supreme Court from 1969 to 1971 [14] Caroline Hall , after whom the town was named and who served as the town's first postmistress, was one of the eight founders of The Grange .

The New River watershed drains a large part of Liberty County, Florida with the Apalachicola River to the west and the Wakulla River to the east.
