Great Teacher Onizuka, officially abbreviated as GTO, is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Tooru Fujisawa.It was originally serialized in Kodansha's shōnen manga magazine Weekly Shōnen Magazine from January 1997 to February 2002, with its chapters collected in 25 tankōbon volumes.
Takashi Sorimachi (反町 隆史, Sorimachi Takashi, born December 19, 1973) is a Japanese actor and singer. He is mostly famous for having portrayed Eikichi Onizuka in the 1998 live-action drama adaptation of the popular manga series Great Teacher Onizuka, and the assassin O in Hong Kong action thriller film Fulltime Killer.

Animated by Studio Pierrot and directed by Noriyuki Abe, the series ran for 43 episodes and was broadcast on Fuji Television from June 30 1999, to September 24, 2000. [1]
"Poison" has appeared in subsequent GTO projects. In a 2020 drama adaptation of the GTO prequel Shonan Junai Gumi, starring Ichirō Kan as Onizuka, "Poison" was featured as an insert song. Fujisawa's best-known work is Great Teacher Onizuka (GTO) about a biker, Eikichi Onizuka, and his attempt to become and remain a teacher. It is a sequel to Shōnan Jun'ai Gumi! and its side story Bad Company. In 1998, Fujisawa won the Kodansha Manga Award for Great Teacher Onizuka. [2]
