In reply to Debby Combs's post on October 10, 2023. I experienced this as well - balloons in Teams meetings after upgrading MacOS to Sonoma. There is one setting in the Teams app for "animations" but it actually appears to be a FaceTime setting > Reactions (Teams uses the built in FaceTime camera which activate with certain hand gestures).

There is a work around that you can try. This only applies on Teams desktop app. Open teams app, on your keyboard press Windows key icon + semicolon icon or ; Press them simultaneously. A pop up box of emojis will show up. Click on search icon and type "hand". From there, it will give you the option to change the color of the hand.
