Starved Rock State Park is a state park in the U.S. state of Illinois, characterized by the many canyons within its 2,630 acres (1,064 ha).Located just southeast of the village of Utica, in Deer Park Township, LaSalle County, Illinois, along the south bank of the Illinois River, the park hosts over two million visitors annually, the most for any Illinois state park.
It is situated on the south bank of the Fox River, which flows southwest to the Illinois River. The village of Cary is located on the north side of the river, connected to Fox River Grove by a bridge on Route 14. According to the 2010 census, Fox River Grove has a total area of 1.78 square miles (4.61 km 2), all land. [24]
The site is at the southern end of the Meeting of the Great Rivers Scenic Route. The Lewis and Clark State Historic Site is situated on the dry side of the Chain of Rocks Levee, approximately 0.25 miles (0.40 km) from the Illinois shore of the Mississippi River. It is also known as Lewis and Clark State Park.
