The term "mag wheels" became synonymous with die-cast wheels made from any material, from modern aluminium alloy wheels to plastic and composite wheels used on items like bicycles, wheelchairs, and skateboards. [4] [5] However, pure magnesium wheels are no longer produced, being found only on classic cars. Pure magnesium suffers from many problems.
However, those magnesium wheels proved to be impractical because they were prone to corrosion and they were mostly used in racing sports. After 1960's magnesium wheels were gradually replaced by aluminium alloy wheels on the mass market, but not from the competition wheels market. Many manufacturers of magnesium wheels are still operating.
The original Charger 500 prototype was a 1968 Charger R/T with a 426 Hemi and automatic transmission. The prototype was painted in B5 Blue with a white stripe and a white interior. The Charger 500 was one of three models introduced in September 1968. The standard engine was the 440 Magnum, but factory literature described the 426 Hemi as standard.
It used a 2-cycle 80cc Fuji engine with four speed manual transmission. It featured a 17-inch front wheel and 16-inch rear wheel. L – Rupp manufactured two L-series dirt bikes in 1973, the L80 and L100. Both bikes used 2-cycle Fuji engines, in 80 and 100cc sizes. They were equipped with four- and five-speed manual transmissions, respectively.
