Lake Superior College (LSC) is a public community college in Duluth, Minnesota. The college offers pre- baccalaureate majors for students interested in transferring to four-year educational institutions as well as more than 90 certificate, diploma and degree programs in career and technical fields.
The college received autonomy from Michigan Tech in 1970 and was known as Lake Superior State College until 1987, when the institution was granted university status. [ 7 ] The institution's college radio station is WLSO , and its student newspaper is The Compass .
In 1972-73, Lake Superior State played in both the ICHA and Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA). [3] In 1973, LSSU left the ICHA for the CCHA. The following season, the Lakers left the NAIA to become an NCAA Division I ice hockey program. LSSU was replaced by the College of St. Scholastica starting in the 1972-73 season.
