Manistique Township is a civil township of Schoolcraft County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 1,045 in 2020. [ 3 ] The township is adjacent to the city of Manistique , but the two are administered autonomously.
Charles Henry Varnum (July 9, 1933 – February 26, 1999) [1] was a Republican member of the Michigan House of Representatives, representing a portion of the Upper Peninsula for 26 years. [2] [3] A native of Jonesville, Varnum attended Ferris Institute and Hillsdale College. While at Hillsdale, Varnum became a member of Delta Tau Delta.

As of the 2020 census, the population was 8,047, making it Michigan's fourth-least populous county. [3] The county seat is Manistique, [4] which lies along the northern shore of Lake Michigan.
