Aileen MacKeogh (16 September 1952–23 May 2005), was an Irish sculptor and academic. She was a Fulbright scholar, the first director of Arthouse in Dublin's Temple Bar and later Head of the School of Art, Design and Media at the Institute of Art, Design and Technology in Dun Laoghaire.
Dún Laoghaire [1] (/ d ʌ n ˈ l ɪər i / dun LEER-ee, Irish: [ˌd̪ˠuːn̪ˠ ˈl̪ˠeːɾʲə,-ˈl̪ˠiːɾʲə]) is a suburban coastal town in County Dublin in Ireland. It is the administrative centre of the county of Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown .
From 2008 to 2011, she curated the DLR Poetry Now Festival in Dún Laoghaire, County Dublin, Ireland, and, with her husband Aengus Woods, she has curated the annual Poetry Fest at the Irish Arts Center, New York, since 2009. The €5,000 award [1] was first given in 2005 (reduced to €2,500 in 2013) [2] and is presented during annual Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown poetry festivals. From 2005 to 2011, it was bestowed during the Poetry Now international poetry festival (the latter event was inaugurated in 1996) which was held in March or April each year. [ 3 ]
