Ip Man is a series of Hong Kong martial arts films loosely based on the life events of the Wing Chun master of the same name.The progenitor of the series was Ip Man (2008), which was followed by three sequels: Ip Man 2 (2010), Ip Man 3 (2015), and Ip Man 4: The Finale (2019), as well as the spin-off Master Z: Ip Man Legacy (2018).

Ip Man is the first film based on the life of Ip Man. It also marks the fourth film collaboration between director Wilson Yip [4] and actor Donnie Yen. [4] The two also reunite with co-star Simon Yam after 2005's SPL: Sha Po Lang. The screenplay for Ip Man was written by Edmond Wong, [4] the son of film producer Raymond Wong. [4]
Ip Man was released in China digitally exclusively on Youku on 23 December 2019. Ip Man also defeats Local Dragon in a fight, captures him, and hands him over to the police. After the fight, he briefly meets Bruce Lee and Lee's two students. The film ends with Ip Man practising Wing Chun on a wooden dummy while Ip Chun records it on a camera, followed by actual footage of the real-life Ip Man doing the same thing.
