University of Karlsruhe, a German technical university, founded in the 19th century, since 2009 it has been named Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. A Technische Hochschule (German: [ˌtɛçnɪʃə ˈhoːxˌʃuːlə], plural: Technische Hochschulen, abbreviated TH) is a type of university focusing on engineering sciences in Germany.
TU9 was established in 2003 as an informal consortium of those Institutes of Technology in Germany which were established before 1900. The founding president of TU9 is Horst Hippler, also president of the University of Karlsruhe.
RWTH Aachen University (German: [ˌɛʁveːteːˌhaː ˈʔaːxn̩]), in German Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule Aachen, [a] is a German public research university located in Aachen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. With more than 47,000 students enrolled in 144 study programs, it is the second largest technical university in Germany.
According to the QS World University Rankings for 2024, the university was placed within the 751-760 range globally, and ranked 39th nationally. [7] In the 2024 Times Higher Education World University Rankings, it was positioned within the 501-600 global bracket, while holding a national rank between 42 and 45. [8]
