Leptotyphlopids (Leptotyphlopidae) are a family of snakes native to America, Africa and Asia. They are burrowing snakes that feed on ants and termites. They are relatively small and rarely exceed 30 cm (12 in) in length. The body is cylindrical with polished scales, a blunt head and a short tail.
