Engine House No. 9 in Tacoma, Washington, is a fire station built in 1907. The building was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975. [1] It hosted horse-drawn fire equipment from 1908 until the first motorized equipment was bought in 1919.
It was built in 1875 and is a 2 + 1 ⁄ 2-story, L-shaped brick building with a mansard roof in the Second Empire style.A hook and ladder bay was added in 1897. The building was rebuilt in 1917 after a fire caused severe damage.
In the 19th century Morrell's redeveloped and extended the Lion Brewery a number of times. A large brewing shed was added in 1879, a blacksmith's shop and engine house in 1880, a further shed and new yard in 1882, stables in 1889, new offices in 1892, a tun room in 1895, further offices in 1897 and a tall octagonal chimney in 1901.
