The museum purchased a C-123 and trucked it to the airport in 2019. The Hagerstown Aviation Museum shows many of these original aircraft. Among the ones on display are: 1939 F24/UC-61C, 1945 C-82A, 1943 PT-19A, and the 1953 C-119 . [ 18 ] The museum is located near Hagerstown Regional Airport in the airport's former terminal.

In the 1940s, the Fairchild Aircraft factory at Hagerstown produced PT-19 trainers and C-82 Packet transport aircraft for the war at the facility, designated Air Force Plant 11. [7] After World War II, Fairchild would go on to produce C-119 and C-123 military transports and license-produce Fokker F27 airliners at Hagerstown.

The museum was founded by Joe DePaulo, Ray Jakubiak, Steve Meyers and Tim Tocwish in 2004 in a 6,000 sq ft (560 m 2) hangar it took over from an organization known as Packer Wings. [ 1 ] [ 2 ] In 2009, it acquired the forward fuselage of a T-33.
