Gilchrist County is a county located in the north central part of the U.S. state of Florida. Organized in 1925 from the western part of Alachua , it is the last county to be formed in the state. As of the 2020 census , the population was 17,864. [ 1 ]

Miller was born in Tampa in 1951, and briefly attended Bethune-Cookman College before dropping out to serve in the United States Air Force from 1971 to 1974. [1] He later attended the University of South Florida, where he served as the president of the Student Governmenet Association, as the student representative on the Florida Board of Regents, and as President of the Black Student Union. [2]
