The English Greyhound Derby is the most prestigious race on the British greyhound racing calendar, with a history stretching back to 1927. It was first held at White City Stadium , but moved to Wimbledon Stadium in 1985, and then Towcester Greyhound Stadium in 2017, Nottingham in 2019 and back to Towcester in 2021.
The final set of first round heats moved a few names up the ante post betting list due to fast heat wins, in particular three Irish runners; Ballymac Leon (29.04), Barefoot Supremo (29.06) and Bockos Vieira (29.08). Signet Denver won again in the second round heats with a time of 29.47 and Aussie Captain also claimed a second win.

[2] [3] The winner was Slippy Blue and the winning owner Mrs Eileen Fenn received £40,000. The competition was sponsored by the Sporting Life and Daily Mirror.
