Pattison converted CFJC to its current FM frequency, adult contemporary format and call sign in 2001. [1] By December 2010 , the station switched formats to hot adult contemporary , dropping most classic hits from the playlist, and going head-to-head up against rock -leaning CHR/Top 40 station CKRV-FM (which had been hot AC up until 2010).
Flagship station CITY-DT, along with Jim Pattison Group-owned affiliates CFJC-TV, CKPG-TV and CHAT-TV are the only Citytv stations producing midday or evening newscasts. The Pattison stations use their individual callsigns, instead of branding under the Citytv name and do not use the CityNews title for their weekday newscasts.
The station was established in 1977 as a local rebroadcaster of Vancouver's CBU, replacing private CBC affiliate CFJC (now CKBZ-FM).CBYK switched to CBTK-FM Kelowna after regional programming for the Southern BC Interior commenced from that station in 1987.
