A discovery of features in a Tyrannosaurus rex skeleton provided more evidence that dinosaurs and birds evolved from a common ancestor and, for the first time, allowed paleontologists to establish the sex of a dinosaur. When laying eggs, female birds grow a special type of bone between the hard outer bone and the marrow of their limbs.
Dinosaur eggs vary greatly in size and shape, but even the largest dinosaur eggs (Megaloolithus) are smaller than the largest known bird eggs, which were laid by the extinct elephant bird. Dinosaur eggs range in shape from spherical to highly elongated (some specimens three times longer than they are wide).
The specimen's considerable size places it within the range of known T. rex individuals, suggesting the presence of large tyrannosaurids during the Campanian stage (~75 million years ago), a temporal range earlier than the established Maastrichtian age (~68–66 Ma) for Tyrannosaurus rex. However, the exact age and provenance of CM 9401 remain ...

The dinosaur's bones were discovered in a mine in Wales in the 1950s. A more recent analysis found that the ignored fossils are a distinct species.
Previously discovered T. rex skeletons were usually missing over half of their bones. [10] It was later determined that Sue was a record 90 percent complete by bulk, [11] and 73 percent complete counting the elements. [12] Of the 360 known T. rex bones, around 250 have been recovered. [1]
Mounted skeletons of different age groups, Los Angeles Natural History Museum. The feeding behaviour of Tyrannosaurus rex has been studied extensively. The well known attributes of T. rex (its jaws, legs and overall body design) are often interpreted to be indicative of either a predatory or scavenging lifestyle, and as such the biomechanics, feeding strategies and diet of Tyrannosaurus have ...
