A town named Tacboan was established by Franciscan priests in 1581. In 1611, Rev. Fr. Juan de Losar, OFM built a church named after Saint Peter. Fr. Losar was the first parish priest of the church. In 1624, the whole town of Tacboan was relocated and it was called Indan where a new church was built with the same patron saint, St. Peter the Apostle.

St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church is a historic church on Ash Street in Lindsay, Cooke County, Texas. It was built in 1903 and added to the National Register in 1979. At first appearance, you would think that this is a stone church, much like the German immigrants that founded Lindsay would have attended in their home country.
San Augustine County was formed in 1837. It was supposedly named after Saint Augustine of Hippo, [3] but more plausibly, the county was named for the town of San Augustine, which had been established five years earlier and whose name was based upon an 18th-century Spanish presidio (fortress), the Presidio de San Agustín de Ahumada, named for Agustín de Ahumada, 2nd Marquess of Amarillas.
