As of the 2020 census, its population was 31,144. [ 1 ] Its county seat is Manning. [ 2 ] This area was developed for lumber and mills, including textile mills.
Summerton is in southwestern Clarendon County at 33°36′19″N 80°21′8″W (33.605145, -80.352159). [ 7] Interstate 95 passes just south of the town, with access from Exit 108. I-95 leads northeast 57 miles (92 km) to Florence and southwest 120 miles (190 km) to Savannah, Georgia. U.S. Routes 15 and 301 join in the center of Summerton.

Santee Indian Mound was part of a Santee mound village complex; it was probably a burial and/or temple mound, likely constructed in some cultural period between 1200–1500.
North Santee is a census-designated place (CDP) in Clarendon County, South Carolina, United States. It was first listed as a CDP prior to the 2020 census [3] with a population of 749. [4] The CDP is on the southwestern edge of Clarendon County, on the northeast shore of Lake Marion, a reservoir on the Santee River.
