24 Hour is prob trying to get some usable cash with this move I don't know if they are going to make money off this. People are just going to take advantage and FINALLY be able to cancel the membership they've been trying to cancel for months. edit - haha, I didn't realize I had replied to another count. Royalty abounds in this thread.
At the end of the deal it cancels itself and you can go buy another discounted membership to use after taking a month off so you start as a new member again. Just change you membership email and phone number. Shit I messed up and deleted my reply. It’s just the smarter way to deal with 24 hour fitness. But yes instead of going to a gym.
That extension will apply at the end of the membership. If you have a pre-paid membership, your end date will be extended to cover the amount of time the clubs are closed in your area. I still think charging through April 15th is bullshit. My billing date is on the 11th. They also updated their homepage with a direct link to cancel your membership.
My girlfriend bought us year long memberships to 24hourfitness last year. Total was about $400. We wanted to change gyms, and stopped going to 24hour fitness about 3 months ago because we weren’t happy with the facilities.
Has anyone been able to successfully freeze or cancel their 24 hour gym membership? I haven’t tried to freeze/cancel my LA Fitness membership yet, and would love to hear anyone’s experience with that as well. TLDR: Fiancé has been unable to freeze or cancel 24 hour fitness membership and is being charged $50 per month when all gyms are closed.
I cancelled everything (membership + 2 classes) in July 2020. I didn't get any return, all $800 wasted. I don't know what to do. Update: Timeline: New membership: 1st week of march Cancellation (knowing, the year is wasted and it won't reopen): 1st week of June 24-hour fitness cancelled a membership, no refund (0 out of $800+ really)
Your experience with canceling can definitely vary by manager. I was an assistant manager at 24 hour fitness and would happily cancel people with no hassle but my manager was awful. I had someone call over the phone to cancel because their husband had recently died. She said they would need to come in person with a death certificate to cancel.
Maybe they will make an exception if enough people complain that 24 Hour is making it impossible to cancel. UPDATE: If you call 1-888-243-5002 and answser "No" that you aren't a current member and "Purchase" to the second question, you can get through and then cancel.
Like the title says, I have 24 hour fitness membership. I have a month to month membership and autopay enabled to my credit card. The gyms are closed, but we are still being charged. An announcement said that our membership will be extended by however many days the gyms are closed. But we are paying now!.
The moment things come back online you can elect to get a new membership with them. In the system, it takes roughly 6 months for a membership to be written off, but standard practice was if the cost was higher than the cost of a new membership (about three months past due) we would just start a new one and remove your finger scan from the old one.
