Da Tung and Xi'an Bao Bao ("Universal Peace and Baby Elephant" in English), is an outdoor 2002 bronze sculpture, located at the North Park Blocks in downtown Portland, Oregon, United States. [1] The sculptor is unknown. [2] It is part of the City of Portland and Multnomah County Public Art Collection courtesy of the Regional Arts & Culture Council.
The marble elephant was probably carved by Bernini's assistant Ercole Ferrata. The Latin inscription at one side of the pedestal reads: "Let any beholder of the carved images of the wisdom of Egypt on the obelisk carried by the elephant, the strongest of beasts, realize that it takes a robust mind to carry solid wisdom."
