I forked and updated the famous mortar calculator, originaly made by mr. Endebert, it's available here https://psmc.michalletavka.cz/ That means the project will be actively maintained, for at least as long as I play the game. So feel free to message me with feedback or feature ideas. It also means there is new stuff, see below. Features. New maps!
The UI for the settings was not optimised to support Mobile (on this current initial release), so at 1100px width, we stop usage of the Mortar Calculator (along with Sidebar view). We are going to look to optimise this later, to get support for mobile - so keep an eye out, shouldn't be so far away of a release.
+ easy to coordinate several mortar positions ( 4 mortars or more ) cons: -- a few maps are outdated and have wrong map coordinates https://squadmortar.xyz/ pros: + all types of artillery (rocketcar/techi mortar) +++ very easy to switch between targets as you can have multiple target markers Cons:
This new calculator no longer requires you to alt+tab or use a separate window to pull up mortar calculations. Nor will it often require any further input than a keypress to solve for a mortar target's Mil and Angle solution. Currently this can only work in Borderless windowed mode, so if you play in fullscreen or windowed you will have issues.
After use squadmc mortar calculator many times i can say safely it is the best mortar calculator ever made, like it should be exactly the system the devs should add in the game sadly its not in the game, just wanted to let everyone know (mostly people that still use markers to get distance wich is useless over 100m) this one works very good and is easier to use than any other.
Mortars are an incredibly useful tool when done right. You don't need a 9 man squad. I recommend having a 4 person squad. 2 on mortars 1 running logi and 1 FO (forward observer) Mortars are only as accurate as marks are. As a mortar team, you rely on your team to place accurate marks on habs and emplacements.
This mortar calculator is absolutely inferior to the SquadMC mortar calculator, since SquadMC also includes the elevation map of each map and automatically adjusts for elevation change which is a huge for accuracy. It's just a shame that SquadMC is no longer being updated it appears.
There is a way to calculate a correction for altitude, but the difference in elevation per 100m drop is usually a known value. Maybe the calculator guys will know it. If it is found or known, the equation for that is this: MSL is meters above sea level. (D Elev Per 100m) / (100m)
Mortar calcs work with the grid system that is the same on every map (some calcs may factor hights in as well but Harju is pretty flat so let's ignore that).
Fell asleep and didn't comment. This is basically a mortar calculator for Mk19s. It's more akin to a UB-32 high angle calculator where it allows you to achieve longer distance and safer support fire. All the calculator does is show that red line on a second screen, and you use the second screen to align your main screen to get optimal ranging ...
