The North Carolina House of Representatives is one of the two houses of the North Carolina General Assembly. The House is a 120-member body led by a Speaker of the House, who holds powers similar to those of the President pro-tem in the North Carolina Senate. Representatives serve two-year terms.
The General Assembly is a bicameral legislature, consisting of the North Carolina House of Representatives (formerly called the North Carolina House of Commons until 1868) and the North Carolina Senate. Since 1868, the House has had 120 members, while the Senate has had 50 members. There are no term limits for either chamber.
The North Carolina General Assembly later redrew the maps (House Bill 980) which were upheld by the Wake County Superior Court and the North Carolina Supreme Court. [4] Candidate filing resumed on February 24, 2022, and concluded on March 4, 2022.
