There were one hundred and sixteen housing units at an average density of 185.1 per square mile (71.5/km 2). The racial makeup of the borough was 96.33% White, 1.67% African American and 2.00% Native American. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.67% of the population.
Lewisberry incorporated as a separate borough in 1832, as did Goldsboro in 1864 and York Haven in 1892. With these losses of population and area, Newberry Township reached the beginning of the 20th century with a population of just over 2,000 (only 296 more people than in 1783).
