Sorrell Booke (January 4, 1930 – February 11, 1994) was an American actor who performed on stage, screen, and television. He acted in more than 100 plays and 150 television shows, [1] and is best known for his role as corrupt politician Jefferson Davis "Boss" Hogg in the television show The Dukes of Hazzard.
After the war, he served as the Deputy Assessor for Rockford Township. In 1950, he left the assessor's office and became a steward with I.B.E.W. Local 196. In 1955, he was elected to the Rockford City Council as alderman for the city's fifth ward. He served for three terms, choosing not to seek reelection in 1967. [1]
