Presidency University, formerly Presidency College, [2] is a public state university located in College Street, Kolkata. The institution was elevated to university status in 2010 after functioning as a constituent college of the University of Calcutta. Founded in 1817, it is one of the oldest places of higher education in India.
It was established in 1857. There are several colleges and institutes that are affiliated to this university. At present, there are approximately 160 institutes which comes under this university, which are mostly located in the districts of Kolkata, Howrah, Hooghly, and South 24 Parganas. [1] [2]
