It is the only public high school in the Ohio County School District. Athletic teams compete as the Wheeling Park Patriots in the WVSSAC Class AAA, as well as the Ohio Valley Athletic Conference. The school opened for the 1976-1977 academic year following the consolidation of Wheeling, Triadelphia, Warwood and West Liberty high schools.
Roll Hill was transformed into a public housing project in the 1960s, with the projects receiving the name Fay Apartments. [2] In the 2010s, the neighborhood's projects received a $36 million renovation. The neighborhood was renamed from Fay Apartments to Villages at Roll Hill in December 2012 during the renovations. [3]
The Meigs Local School District is a public school district based in Pomeroy, Ohio, United States. The school district includes all of Rutland, Salem, Salisbury, Scipio as well as most of Bedford Township, and a very small portion of Chester Township. Three incorporated villages are served by Meigs Local Schools: Pomeroy, Middleport, and Rutland.

The school district is currently constructing two new schools to replace three existing facilities. A new middle school housing grades 6-8 is being built on the site of Green Intermediate and Green Middle School, and both will be demolished. A new elementary school housing grades 2-5 is being built on the site of Greenwood Early Learning Center.
