[2] The novel is about life in a Karachi slum built after the independence of Pakistan in 1947 and the struggles in the lives of poor people living there. Khuda Ki Basti TV drama serials were made in 1969 and 1974 based on the novel. [3] [4]
Zameen (Urdu: زمین, romanized: Zamīn, lit. 'land'), alternatively spelled Zamin, is an Urdu novel by Pakistani novelist and short story writer Khadija Mastoor. The novel was published posthumously by Idara-e-Farogh-e-Urdu in 1983. [2] Daisy Rockwell, PhD, translated it into English and released it in July 2019 under the title A Promised Land.

[4] One of the earliest references in print to dastangoi is a 19th-century text containing 46 volumes of the adventures of Amir Hamza titled Dastan e Amir Hamza. [5]
