Goose Lake Prairie State Natural Area is a 2,537-acre (1,027 ha) state park in Illinois. More than half of the state park is a tallgrass prairie maintained as an Illinois Nature Preserve. It is located in Grundy County near the town of Morris approximately 50 miles (80 km) southwest of Chicago. [1]

In 1970 with widespread local public support, the University of Illinois transferred the bog to the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, and the state of Illinois began purchasing parcels of land surrounding the bog to create the current 1,150-acre (470 ha) park. Volo Bog was listed as a National Natural Landmark in 1973.
Coffeen Power Station was a 915 megawatt coal power plant located south of Coffeen, Illinois, near Coffeen Lake State Fish and Wildlife Area in Montgomery County, Illinois. The plant was owned by Vistra Energy. Coffeen began operations in 1965 and was shut down on November 1, 2019. [1]
