The anime series Shiki is an adaptation of the manga series drawn by Ryu Fujisaki, which is itself an adaptation of a novel of the same name by Fuyumi Ono. The story is about a small town in rural Japan named Sotoba, where a series of bizarre deaths occur.
Shiki (屍鬼, "Corpse Demon" or "Death Spirit") is a Japanese horror novel written by Fuyumi Ono. It was originally published in two parts by Shinchosha in 1998, and was then reprinted into five parts in 2002.

Shiki Ryougi (両儀式, Ryōgi Shiki) is a teenaged girl, who possesses the "Mystic Eyes of Death Perception". Mikiya Kokutou ( 黒桐幹也 , Kokutō Mikiya ) is Shiki's love interest and later husband who, two years previously, made a promise to attend college with Shiki.
The English adaptation of the episodes has been licensed by Geneon Entertainment. [2] The episodes are based on the visual novel Tsukihime by Type-Moon and adapt the source material over twelve episodes. The plot of the episodes follows Shiki Tohno after he moves into his sister's house, and his interactions with the vampire Arcueid Brunestud.

Fuyumi Ono (小野 不由美, Ono Fuyumi, born December 24, 1960) is a Japanese novelist best known for writing The Twelve Kingdoms (十二国記, Jūni Kokuki), which was adapted into a popular anime series. She is married to Yukito Ayatsuji, the author of the horror novel Another. [1]
